Pracilia Gorden was born in raised in Nigel, West Africa. Growing up with 2 brothers and 1 sister it was hard to support a big family on a one person income. Her parents knew that the only way for them to provide for their family the way they wanted to provide, and to give their children the ability to become something greater by a greater education was to go to America. She would not be limited to what she would be able to do where she could work to help her parents provided for their family. In the 1999 her parents decided to come to America. When they moved to the US they brought an apartment in Alexandria Va. Immediately the children started school and her parents went to work.

When Parcilia moved to the US she knew their would be many of obstacles that she knew she would have to overcome. When she started school she had a hard time understanding English. It was hard on her because even though she had learned a little English she couldn’t speak it well enough to get a job. About 3 months of living in the US she became a custom to her environment. She was speaking and writing English, and she had friends. There were just two more obstacles she knew she still to have overcome, getting a job and doing well in college.

In 2005 she began going to Strayer University where she was studying for her master degree in business. After she stared to school she started working at starbucks. She worked there for about 3 months then got a job at Strayer University were she was an assistant to the dean of the school. When Pacilia first started school she was taking only 3 classes. After she got use to her schedule and job she decided to pick up 3 more classes causing her to have a full schedule. She hopes to be finish with her bachelors by the summer of 2008.

Some customs she carried were her was he family values. She knew that through thick and thin she must be there for her family and take care of them. She also knew that education was very important to her family. She was brought up that you must always provide for your family and strive for the best at everything you do. She appreciates everything she has and that has happen to her.

Pacilia hopes to get her masters degree so she can go back home and help the people and her county achieve their goals like she has done.
